At the beginning of the 20th century, during a time of great commercial activity, the Roqueta family started to fill hogsheads (bocois, in Catalan) with wines they produced at the farmhouse. It was around that time, in 1898, that Ramon Roqueta Torrentó set up a business in the city of Manresa to sell its wines. Later on in 1913, he expanded the business with new facilities and a warehouse. Since then, young wines that were made at the Roqueta Farmhouse have been taken to Manresa to be aged in the winery’s new premises.
To prevent the barrels that were left behind in the farmhouse from rotting, which would happen if they dry out, they decided to fill them progressively with “vi ranci” (aged wine) because its requires little work and preserves well over time. This “vi ranci” is now a real treasure.
The wine that was stored came from varieties that were native to this region: white Picapoll, Pansera and Malvasia.
