SAGRISTIA

For over eight centuries, wine has been made at the Masía Roqueta farmhouse which is located in Sant Maria d’Horta d' Avinyó, Barcelona. Members of the Roqueta family have lived in the house for over 30 generations.
At the end of the 19th century, Ramon Roqueta Torrentó set up a winery in the city of Manresa. Since then, young wines that were made in the Masia Roqueta farmhouse have been taken to Manresa where they are aged. To prevent the barrels that were left behind in the farmhouse from rotting, which would happen if they dry out, Ramon Roqueta decided to fill them with “vi ranci”, an aged oxidative wine that preserves well and which is typical of this area. This “vi ranci” is now a real treasure.

This wine is commercialised under the brand name Sagristia. Sagristia R-2 and C-1 are just two of the “vi rancis” from a collection that the Roqueta family stores in the cellars of their farmhouse. These wines have been there for varying periods of time, ranging mostly from 40 to 70 years and they have been stored in different places throughout the cellars. They have been preserved in perfect conditions in chestnut and oak barrels from different periods. In the cellars, there are 95 barrels in total, and the oldest ones are approximately 150 years old.

Sagristia C-1 is one of most emblematic blends that can be found in the cellars at the Masia Roqueta farmhouse. It is a blend of small quantities of wine extracted from 4 barrels; each one contributes a unique sensation which enriches the end result. This blend expresses harmony. It is generous and pleasant, with undertones of fresh pastries and tofu. Only 3,000 bottles of this blend have been produced.

SAGRISTIA R-2

Sagristia R-2 is an aged wine which comes from just one barrel, barrel number 2, hence its name. It is an extreme wine due to its complexity and its wide range of aromas. Sensations and aromas of Mediterranean forest, pine trees and autumn. It has a distinct acidic finish on the mouth which is typical of Roqueta’s unique wines, as well as an elegance and freshness which evokes the land of Bages. Only 50 bottles of this wine have been produced.
